OVERVIEW

Neil Love, MD

Last year, I had the pleasure of moderating a satellite meeting held in conjunction with the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium entitled the Great Adjuvant Debate. That event was truly one of the most interesting, exciting and well-received live education programs I have been involved with during my career. To that end, we are very excited about the opportunity to update and expand the discussion from last year ’s meeting by hosting the Great Adjuvant Debate II.

For this conference, we will use the same format that we pioneered last year. We have assembled an exceptional clinical investigator faculty, many of whom participated last year, and we will once again focus the discussion on seven debates covering some of the most important controversies in systemic therapy for early breast cancer. To begin each debate, I will read a position statement outlining a specific treatment approach and will ask the audience to agree or disagree with the statement using electronic keypad polling devices. A member of our research leader panel then will review the available clinical research data and ongoing trials that currently guide treatment decision-making in this arena. Our faculty panel will follow each presentation by debating the topic and voicing their opinions with the hope of providing relevant, practical and important perspectives on the state-of-the-art management of early breast cancer.

For those of you who joined us at last year’s meeting, you undoubtedly understand why we are very much looking forward to this event. For those of you who have never participated, we hope you will join us in San Antonio for what promises to be a fascinating evening of continuing oncology education.
