It
is really very well tolerated. The monthly injection seemed like
that it was going to be a problem, but patients dont complain
about it. It doesnt cause much pain or discomfort. That was
specifically asked for, as you might imagine, and its just
not turned out to be an issue. The other side effects between Arimidex
and Faslodex are very similar, and both drugs are very well tolerated.
Theres
theoretical reasons why Faslodex might not cause hot flashes, because
it seems like it doesnt cross the blood-brain barrier very
well. As I recall in these studies, the number of hot flashes was
pretty similar, and they were both low levels. After all, these
are patients that have already been through the menopause, usually,
for quite some time, and theyve probably adjusted to the hot
flashes and theyve gone away. In that setting, any endocrine
therapy doesnt seem to bring on hot flashes very much. And
both of them had a low level of hot flashes.
