Probably
50% of menopausal women who have had breast cancer, have had significant
troubles with menopausal type symptoms, and the vast majority of
that menopausal symptomatology problem is represented by hot flashes.
There are some people that its vaginal dryness or dyspareunia,
that stuff, but is mainly hot flashes. And I think its a good
50%, especially if you take women who are on tamoxifen versus not.
Now, it will vary with time, and many times these things get better,
but it may take months or years for them to get better.
I
think for actually about half of the postmenopausal women its
a substantial problem and maybe people say well, lets make that
25%. We have not had problems putting patients on our trials. We
looked at soy a while ago and we put on, I believe 160 women in
two months on this clinical trial. Which is a wild sort of accrual
that many people would love to have. We had to actually close the
trial much sooner than we had expected. So, there are just oodles
of patients out there. With other agents weve put on 50 or
more patients per month on these trials.
