MEETING WORKBOOK
The meeting workbook contains a section on Controversies
and Challenges in Breast Cancer, including new data from a
national patterns of care survey conducted for this meeting by ReedHaldyMcIntosh,
Media, Pennsylvania. The workbook also contains select clinical
trial summaries and schemas, edited commentary from research leaders
and relevant graphics and references.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPLEMENT
The educational supplement is intended to inform and update meeting
attendees on current breast cancer clinical trials, and to encourage
physicians to enroll their patients in these studies. Most of the
protocol information was abstracted from the NCIs PDQ (Physicians
Data Query) database as of 1/31/02. The PDQ is continuously modified.
To obtain the most complete, accurate and up-to-date information
for clinical purposes, readers should consult the PDQ or trial investigators.
The supplement also contains select journal articles published in
2001.
BREAST CANCER UPDATE BOOTH
The Breast Cancer Update booth hosts a meeting website with an easy-to-use
representation of information from the meeting workbook and educational
supplement as well as a patterns of care survey. The website allows
users to link immediately to relevant full-text articles, abstracts,
trial information and other web resources indicated by the red underlined
text in the meeting workbook and educational supplement. During
and after this meeting, these materials will also be posted on BreastCancerUpdate.com.
SOURCE OF RESEARCH COMMENTS
Except where otherwise noted, comments from breast cancer research
leaders are from interviews in Breast Cancer Update. Conversations
